Our Story

Meet Sierra and Chelsea.

These are the two girls who are going to change their world in Starkville, MS.

We became friends at Mississippi's Junior College, Jones County Junior College, in the fall of 2006 after living just a few minutes away from each other most of our lives. We then transferred to Bulldawg country after our 2 years there were over. We lived together along with 2 other amazing girls for a year and then those 2 got hitched and it was just Sierra and I for another year after that until she tied the knot a year ago today!! We have become great friends over the years and I definitely consider her and her hubby as family now.

Enough about us... lets get to the ministry...

About a year ago S had the amazing idea to start a bakery after falling in love with her Kitchen Aid and baking. As soon as she told me I went to the drawing board in my bedroom at my parents house and drew a logo and just started writing down ideas... LOTS of Ideas.. enough that soon we needed a notebook to keep them all straight. While making plans to start this bakery something just didn't complete about it. It needed to have a purpose, it needed to be used to minister to the people in our community not just fill their bellies with delicious treats. I also didn't know if I should commit to stay in Starkvegas because of some factors in my own life.
So we put the notebook on the shelf and just let it sit for a while, still longing to open this business but not sure if it was just a crazy dream that may happen in the distant future.
Over Christmas break , I went to Ghana, Africa to work at an orphanage and on the way back I was inspired by the cool laid back shops of the Amsterdam airport and spent a few ours on the flight back jotting down ideas for the bakery again... and this is where the story gets exciting...
A day or two before new years we went to the Winter Ramp gathering in Chattanooga, TN and had an amazing conversation on the way up there where we talked about the bakery and a ministry that contained a bakery aspect that is running in Canton, MS called Christmas Village and our hearts for women and children. And then it clicked..

This is what we've been missing! We've figured out how we will use this bakery to glorify God! YAY!!!

We now have a goal but we had to figure out how in the world we are gonna do this thing. But God, He already had things set into motion and we have been so blessed to see him move in a mighty way all along confirming that this is exactly what we are supposed to be doing with our lives. Here is a list of a few things:

1. Our pastor and his wife LOVE this idea and have been very supportive all along the way.

2. Our church is planning on building a new building in the near future and had already planned to have some kind of food establishment on site to serve as a meeting place for anyone in the community but they didn't really have a plan of what to put in that place and our bakery idea is the answer to that question.

3. We have amazing friends that have had great ideas and want to help in any way that they can.

4. We have had confirmation after confirmation that could only be from God. (I have an amazing story to tell you all in another post.)

5. There is a HUGE need for the type of services we plan to provide not only in our city and state, but all over our nation. (details also in another post)

There is the background of how we started on this journey. Please Keep Reading and pray for us as we continue to seek God's will for this city.

Love Always,
Chels
